nicole reynolds - poems

all night

i could watch her all night
like an owl watches the bright star
all day like the hummingbird
watches the feeder fill
like the man who smokes his
cigar in the bar i want you
like a whiskey drink
when i am lonely
like a frog watches the fly
it wants to catch
and the will power
patience it takes for the
one shot it gets
i wish my eyes could always
stay open- to watch you
like that
the intensity of a cricket
chorus at dusk, a frantic
pulsing
the rush of the sun near
the horizon in the last moments
holding onto it with a lasso
rope so beautiful the
moment of the horizon sun
but that's the best part
is when you open your eyes
is when the sky opens its eyes
and the clouds form rorschach
studios in the sky
